Some basic do’s and don’ts of hair coloring

Are you planning to get your hair colored but are worried if it will damage your hair? Well, don’t worry, almost everyone goes through this when they decide to stop having boring hair. However, before you step into the salon for getting your hair colored, we suggest you should know some do’s and don’ts for better hair care.


  • Avoid heating your hair initially as it can damage the protective layers of your hair.
  • Do not wash your hair immediately after coloring, give some time for your hair color to settle in.
  • Avoid sun exposure to your hair. You can also use SPF serum for hair to protect them from sun exposure for a longer period.
  • Do not color your hair very frequently. There should be at least a month’s gap before applying a new color.
  • Do not expose your hair to chlorine water, or for that matter, any type of chemical.
  • Things which must be done after hair color.


  • Oiling can help you precondition your hair.
  • Use cold water to wash your hair as hot water can fade the hair color very easily.
  • Conditioner after shampoo helps a lot to make your hair manageable. It also helps your hair color to settle in.
  • Ammonia-free products should be used for recently colored hair, as the hair is already being damaged by the dyeing process.
  • The chemical dye makes strands dry, trim your hair frequently to avoid split ends and use the right kind of comb.
