A man’s head of hair is among the most essential parts that can make or break a total look or style. Luckily, Bangkok is not short on barbershops.
While traditional neighborhood barbershops have an undeniably inherent charm, there’s nothing wrong with a fellow indulging in a little excess and opting for a slightly more high-end hairstyling experience. For the discerning gentlemen, there are an ever-growing number of shops where the classically trained barbers are experts in their trade, and keep well informed as to the latest grooming trends for men. These eight well-established Bangkok barbershop brands listed below offer haircut havens where dashing dandies can get truly spoiled and pampered without even remotely compromising their masculinity. Best of all, you’ll walk away looking – and feeling – like a star.

Drawing inspiration from the classics The Godfather, The Barber’s Tale reflects the original gentlemen’s style of the likes of James Dean, Elvis Presley, and Al Pacino. This 1970s-inspired shop offers an inclusive service of haircutting, coloring, shaving, facial massages and treatments, head massages, and a hair styling consultation. Moreover, as dusk falls, a varied selection of craft beers and sodas are also available for you to sip and chill.

Hair & Stache Barbershop
Hair & Stache Barbershop is many people’s go-to barbershop when it comes to haircutting and beard grooming. The professional barbers do not compromise on quality and are attentive to each customer’s style and needs as they provide the best style consultation service. The available programs start from basic haircuts to a Hot Towel Wet Shave and Beard Shaping.
The shop is located at People Park Community Mall. It opens daily from 11am-8pm.
Truefitt & Hill
Established in 1805, Truefitt & Hill is both the finest traditional gentlemen’s barber and perfumer in London, and the world’s oldest barbershop brand (as stated in the Guinness Book of records). Their extensive grooming menu includes haircuts, traditional hot towel wet shaves, beard trimming, ear cleanings, manicures, pedicures, and hair coloring, as well as a variety of facials and head and face massages. Sakorn Thavisin, Managing Director of PS Grooming, first brought the brand to Thailand, offering an old-school barbershop experience for discerning, affluent customers that exudes English style, luxury, comfort, and a healthy dose of grand theatrics. The first branch launched in May of 2014, located on the 4th floor of Central Embassy, and since that time three more branches have opened in Bangkok – at the Emporium (1st floor), Gaysorn Village (1st floor), and the most recent at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel (two seats on the 1st floor). No matter which branch you choose, the yesteryear feel of the decor is there, along with a selection of fine single malts to enjoy while awaiting your trim. Sit back, relax, feel positively pampered, and perhaps even get a shoeshine while you’re at it.
All branches are open daily from 10:30am to 8pm.
The original Barberford, located on the 4th floor of the Erawan Bangkok hotel, has long been known as a place where a fashionable fellow can go for a top-tier barbershop experience. That experience begins the moment you walk through the door, thanks to the luxurious furniture, the carefully curated music, and the traditional atmosphere combined with a modern edge are all designed to suit men with great taste who love classic, British-style good looks. Over the past few years owner Charles Siri, also the man behind the bespoke tailor shop Charles Patnett, has grown the brand into a threefold operation, with the addition of Barberford Noir (M floor, Siam Discovery), an all-black salon offering five private barber chairs, and Barberford Reserve (G floor, Eight Thonglor), which exudes a hip gentleman’s club vibe. The grooming menu ranges from classic haircut, to traditional hot towel razor shave, to the aptly named ‘Fashion Cut’, which includes deep cleansing shampoo and conditioner, scalp massage, and a K-Pop/J-Pop cut, style and finish.
The shops are open daily from 11am to 8:30pm (Erawan to 8pm) and advance booking is highly recommended.
Slightly spooky but always stylish, Chavin “Kwan” Nantaterm opened the first Black Amber barbershop in an old four-story shophouse nestled between Thong Lor soi 5 and 7. Oozing hipster cred, the shop’s retro 1920s Americana atmosphere is accented with a spiral staircase connecting the upper and ground floors, plump leather sofas for customers awaiting their turn, heavy duty retro barber chairs, and vintage glass cabinets displaying pomades and other hair products for sale. Cutting edge cuts by expertly trained barbers, as well as traditional shaves and other grooming services, are all offered in an atmosphere that is undeniably masculine; where customers are offered a complimentary single malt with each cut, and bringing your own cigars and smoking inside is perfectly acceptable. This formidable formula seems to be working well and Chavin recently expanded his operations with a new shop located at Empire Tower (Chong Nonsi BTS).
Both branches are open daily: from 11am to 8pm at Empire Tower, and from noon to 9pm at Thong Lor.
Inside this ground floor shop at K Village you’ll find four teakwood-walled cubicles, each of which boasts one of four vintage Takara Traditional barbershop chairs from Japan – all of which are hydraulically operated, with 360-degree rotation, reclining backrest, adjustable and removable headrest, and padded upholstered arms and seat. The grooming menu here offers everything you’d expect, including haircuts, traditional straight-razor wet shaves, beard trims, and neck and shoulder massages. Meanwhile, the old-school decor is matched by the old-school service, and most of the customers are loyal fans who have been coming here for years.
Open daily from 10am to 8pm.
Craftsman Barber Shop
In the heart of the laidback Phra Khanong area you’ll find plenty of so-called “hipster” dudes, and for several years now Craftsman Barber Shop has been servicing the hair needs of many of those dashing dandies. Along with haircuts, hot towel shaves, and beard styling, the shop sells American brand pomades, Italian shaving lather, various shampoos and conditioners, and even serves up drip coffee and beer. A few years back they went a bit more upscale and opened Craftsman Voyage at EmQuartier (Building B, 2nd floor), where vintage cuts are still the order of the day and premium grooming products from the likes of Hanz de Fuko and Modern Pirate are for sale. Inside, the wood-heavy, 30s style retro décor sets the tone, while a complimentary glass of Jameson (or a bracing cup of Nespresso) sets the mood.
Craftsman Voyage is open daily from 10am to 8pm, while the original shop operates Mondays from noon to 7pm, Tuesday to Friday from noon to 9pm, and weekends from 11am to 9pm.
Located smack dab on Sukhumvit Road, midway between Phrom Phong and Thong Lo BTS stations, Parrish Jones is one of those unique Bangkok establishments that offers a bit of everything. Men’s bespoke clothing and tailoring, which takes advantage of 3D body scanning technology, is the store’s main line of business, and the outfits run the gamut from denim and casual clothing to elegant formal wear. Completing this shrine to style is a small barbershop operation at the rear of the showroom, which consists of two chairs and offers haircuts, wet shaves, beard trims, and more. And if you feel like really unwinding there’s also a fully operational café and bar within the shop.
Haircuts are available Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 8pm.
